Executive Director (Remote Position)
The Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) seeks a bright, engaging, and experienced executive to lead the growth of our organization, the collective voice of North America’s technology councils, and drive the creation of impactful new services and programs that support the success of our members.
Technology, the world’s fastest-moving industry, is bolstered by a network of organizations across the globe, each focused on accelerating the growth of the tech industry for their respective region. TECNA unites North America’s 60+ technology-related trade associations that collectively represent more than 22,000 technology-focused businesses.
TECNA strives to deliver valuable services to our member organizations and foster collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of ideas. We accomplish this through:
- Public Policy Advocacy and Government Relations
- Best Practice Sharing
- Peer-to-Peer Relationship-Building
About the Successful Candidate:
Are you growth and operations focused? Have some trade association background? Experienced working with top executives and board members? Worked in public policy advocacy? Have you led an organization as an executive, owning and driving its success? Do you have an interest in the tech industry? If you’re reading this and nodding, let’s talk. On behalf of our 60+ tech councils from across North America, our successful executive director will lead:
- Sponsorship and corporate fundraising
- Program development and membership engagement
- Public policy programming and communications experience
- Strategic planning, budgeting, and operations
TECNA is at an inflection point. As the industry continues to grow, so does the organization. We’re looking for a candidate to catalyze that growth especially through work in national government affairs and advocacy. As such, we seek a candidate with an understanding of the public policy process, preferably with experience working in government affairs, lobbying, or a campaign-related role.
Experience working in the technology sector would absolutely be beneficial but is not required. We would prefer that you have a genuine interest in the industry, beyond just being a dedicated smartphone user.
This position is a remote-work position (It’s the tech industry, after all.) Be ready to present to a board via virtual conferencing, lead webinars, feel comfortable with mobile-based messaging platforms, you know… probably all the things you’ve done in 2020 anyway. Patience and the ability to effectively guide a very wide variety of stakeholders (from board members to elected officials to potential funding partners) is an essential component of this role.
About our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion:
We recognize that the technology sector has a particularly important role to play in creating a more diverse and inclusive community. TECNA has an important opportunity to influence equity and inclusion conversations on a continent-wide basis. As such, our successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to expanding our efforts to be more inclusive as an organization and industry, as well as to deliver services to member associations that enable them and their respective members to achieve similar equity, diversity, and inclusion aims.
