During the TECNA DC Fly-In on April 9 & April 10, we're bringing together members of Congress and key federal stakeholders with leaders in the technology community from across North America to discuss policy priorities.

TECNA Members have an opportunity to discuss issues, rules and regulations affecting the tech community, hear from Congressional and committee members, and get an inside-the-beltway perspective on upcoming legislative priorities.

The morning’s session will focus on Congress’s and the Biden Administration’s focus on artificial intelligence and what we can expect in the future.  The session will also include insights into current government regulatory actions that may impact small- to medium-sized innovation companies including: The Federal Trade Commission’s proposed changes to the HSR Premerger Notification Rule and Merger and Acquisition Guidelines as well as proposed framework to exercise March-In Rights under the Bayh-Dole Act.  As speakers are confirmed, they will be listed here.

9:00-9:45am - A Legislative Outlook for the 119th Congress
Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA), a member of the House Judiciary and Education & the Workforce committees, will discuss policy initiatives shaping the 118th Congress, as well as key priorities and opportunities for industry engagement in the 119th Congress.

10:00am-11:00am - AI Policy in Motion: Navigating AI in a Rapidly Evolving Landscape
(Dan Jasnow & Oliver Spurgeon III)
Panelists will dissect the complex landscape of AI governance and offer perspectives on the legal, ethical and business dimensions. Themes will include intellectual property, privacy, regulation and the workforce.

11:15am-12:15pm - Balancing Congressional Authority, Agency Regulation and Judicial Review in Tech Policy
(Michael Dearington, Kate Hudson, Pallavi Gunaganti)
Panelists will provide insights into the pending U.S. Supreme Court cases (including Chevron Deference), shedding light on how Congress' delegation of authority to agencies influences regulatory decisions impacting the tech community. Additionally, they will explore two current statuses under review - March-In Rights under the Bayh-Dole Act and Pre-Merger Notification Rules - and their implications for tech innovation and regulation.

12:15pm - Lunch

*TECNA members are encouraged to schedule visits with their respective offices on Capitol Hill throughout the afternoon on April 10.

CEO Mini Retreat
Additionally, TECNA Member CEOs and Executive Directors are invited to attend this CEO Mini Retreat following the Fly-In also in DC April 10 & 11.
